Baildon

Baildon village tours

A variety of 1 - 1.5 hour tours around this historic village, from ‘Church ’n’ Chapel’ to ‘Mills and Pubs’! It just depends on your interest! Distance: 1 to 1.5 miles. Easy.

Shipley Glen via the Shipley Glen Tramway

Ride up the recently restored tramway for a walk to Bracken Hall Green to hear more about the area’s colourful characters and their enterprising schemes! Return by tramway or short downhill walk! Distance: 2 miles. Moderate.

Tong Park

Take a walk back in time to Tong Park, a fascinating village where many of the old buildings remain as testament to its industrial past. This walk, which starts and ends in Baildon village, also has lovely views as we walk through the surrounding hills and dales. Distance: Hard


Keighley

Keighley at the time of the Brontes

A walk around the Brontes’ nearest town, starting outside the Parish Church, to discover more about its turbulent history in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. Distance: 2 miles. Easy.


Thornton

The Bronte Way to Moscow !

A walk from the Old Bell Chapel, Thornton, passing the Bronte Birthplace, and continuing along the scenic Bronte Way, to Doe Park reservoir, Denholme. Return via Moscow - in Thornton ! Distance: 4.5 miles. Hard.

The Great Northern Trail: Thornton to Queensbury

A walk from Thornton, starting at the Great Northern Hotel, Thornton Road, along a section of the Great Northern Trail to the ‘Queensbury Triangle’, passing an Elizabethan manor house on the way. Return via the site of the Clayton Fireclay Works. Distance: 3.5 miles. Hard.

Thornton Village

A variety of 1.5 – 2.00 hour walks around the village and its lovely surrounding countryside. Themes include ‘Mills & Manor Houses’, ‘Old Schools of Thornton’, and ‘Nineteenth Century Chapels & Graveyards’. Distance: 3 – 4.00 miles. Easy to Hard.


Key to Walks

Easy: mainly on the flat, usually in villages or towns.

Moderate: some slopes, stiles and off-road footpaths

Hard: may include steep slopes, stiles and rough, boggy ground
